Topic
We are preparing an exciting scientific program to explore the latest developments in invertebrate pathology, including microbial control of insect pests, diseases in beneficial invertebrates, the medical and biotechnological significance of insect pathogens, and fundamental scientific research in host-pathogen interactions. The Plenary Session on “Patagonian Aquaculture, Diseases and Climate Change Challenges” will be offered by worldwide recognized specialists.
Venue
The venue for the 2025 International Congress on Invertebrate Pathology and Microbial Control and the 57th Annual Meeting of the Society for Invertebrate Pathology will be Puerto Varas, Chile. This city is also known as “The City Of Roses” and it is located in the southern Chilean province of Llanquihue, in Los Lagos Region. The city is famous for its German traditions, its natural environment, and its popularity as a tourist destination. It enjoys a scenic location close to mountains, lakes, forest, and national parks on the north side of Patagonia. Puerto Varas is located 20 km (12 mi) from the city of Puerto Montt on the shore of Llanquihue Lake, the second-largest lake in Chile. The conical Osorno Volcano and the snowcapped peaks of Calbuco Volcano and Tronador Hill are visible from the lakefront on sunny days.
Puerto Varas is the southernmost of a string of towns on the western shore of Llanquihue Lake that includes Frutillar, Llanquihue and Puerto Octay. Puerto Varas is characterized by traditional German architecture, with houses built from Patagonian cypress (alerce or Lañilawal) wood using tools brought over from Europe by the 19th-century colonial inhabitants. It was designated a “heritage city” in 1992 and has several protected historical buildings.
The venue for the Conference will be Wyndham Pettra Hotel, a 5-star hotel located 400 m from Llanquihue Lake, and it is walking distance from downtown, restaurants, and local amenities. The Hotel is also 25 min. away from El Tepual airport in Puerto Montt.
